About Your Acupuncturist Dr. David Sewell AP
 
David is an Acupuncture Physician who practices in Sarasota, Florida. He has always been fascinated by the power of the body to heal itself, stop pain, and restore health and vitality.
 
David’s interest in alternative medicine began more than twenty years ago when he moved to China. While a student, he was exposed China’s ancient healing arts and medical traditions. He would spend nearly a decade living and working in China. He would eventually graduate Suma Cum Laude from East-West College, one of America’s best recognized programs in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
 
While studying TCM David pursued specialized training in Applied Kinesiology, Auricular Acupuncture, Electro-Acupuncture, Point Injection Therapy and Medical Laser Therapy, traveling around the state to study with many noted experts. Following his graduation from East-West College, he traveled to Gainesville where he completed a six month post-graduate program in Clinical Hypnosis at the Florida Institute of Hypnotherapy. He is now on the FIH’s Board of Advisors.
 
Following the completion of his studies at FIH, David returned to Sarasota and volunteered to work with the elderly and disadvantaged at the Sarasota Senior Friendship Center’s Rubin Center for Healthy Aging. He is the first Staff Specialist in Medical Hypnosis in their more than 30 year history. He is also Staff Specialist in Acupuncture. He often combines both modalities in his healing work with patients.
 
A lifelong learner, David studies continuously to keep up to date with the latest developments in the fields of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Hypnotherapy and Laser Therapy. His special area of interest is pain management. He continues to attend seminars, take additional advanced training, studies new research and books, and constantly broadens his understanding about the incredible things that are possible for his clients via hypnosis, acupuncture, and laser therapy.
